In regard to Mr. McLeod’s column “Trump’s re-election key to preventing Canada’s collapse,” (St. Albert Gazette, Commentary, March 23).
Had to read this a few times to see if the author was joking.
Apparently not.
Mr. McLeod seems to be demonizing socialist ideals. However, demonizing only works well for those that have a polarized view of the world.
If Mr. McLeod is expounding the U.S. style of medicare for the wealthy, along with trickle-down economics, then he is also promoting the opposite of Canadian ideals.
This comment could go on for many pages, but I will point out that if you define socialism as taxpayer dollars being used to employ your populace in either a government department or a government contracted organization, then the U.S. is the most socialist entity in human history.
The U.S. military is the world’s largest employer. This does not even include the subcontractors. Who pays their wages?
In closing, I feel blessed to be born in this country. We must be on guard for those who attack our wonderful Canadian ideals. They need to be taken to task for their views as we must defend our country from those who promote such awful sliver thin views.
