Canada doesn't deserve Harper's dishonesty

What has happened to Canadian politics? I am a senior who was born and raised in Alberta and have become embarrassed and very disappointed in the way one of our political parties is campaigning during the present federal election.

What has happened to Canadian politics?

I am a senior who was born and raised in Alberta and have become embarrassed and very disappointed in the way one of our political parties is campaigning during the present federal election.

Yes I am talking specifically about our prime minister, Stephen Harper. His election tactics are deploring, unconstitutional, sickening, unethical, undemocratic, disgusting and morally wrong.

I thought Canada was a true democratic country but watching and hearing what Harper and his cronies are doing is absolutely wrong. Hiding behind the statement his organizers run the everyday operations is a cop-out. Who is in charge of the ship and accepts the responsibility of it all? Is it not the leader, the man in charge?

With all the fiascos that took place in Parliament lately by his party, why would we Canadians even think about voting him back? For example, Bev Oda lying in the House of Commons alone with no steps taken by Harper tells me the type of politician this leader is. Both she and him cannot be trusted because of this issue alone. Harper should have removed her from Parliament immediately, which would have been the moral and proper Canadian way of handling it. This is not the way we should have our parliamentarians running this country. No politician at the municipal, provincial or federal level should remain sitting in the House when caught lying in the most honourable place in Canada.

To all the people in Canada, what an example is being set to all Canadians to follow? Also screening all participants who wish to attend his campaign meetings is completely wrong. What has he got to hide and is this true democracy?

Apparently none of the other party leaders do this. If he cannot defend his position on any and all issues in public, is this the man we what running our country? Openness, not secrecy is what Canadians need and want.

Standing behind this shield of protection does not allow Canadians to truly see the real Harper. He avoids the real questions and is allowed to present himself and his party in the most favourable perception he wishes. These rallies are staged and he is not being truly honest to the public by trying to avoid any criticism inferred about him and his party.

Is not an election the time when we, the electorate, get to ask all the parties to answer questions regarding any issues or concerns? Will Harper only talk about what he wants and naturally avoid the hot issues or the topics that he knows will not favour his party, once more being deceptive and playing us for fools? When we are seen with opposition party members, this automatically exempts us from being able to attend Harper’s rallies. What is wrong with this conservative policy? Is this called democracy? When asked about this, he just forwards this issue to his rally organizers without seeming to mention taking steps to correct this issue, telling the public this policy is ok.

The top job in Canada is just too important to have a leader that is not prepared to stand up and tell us what he is prepared to do about all Canadian concerns and issues. Can we make a true, honest and educated decision with this amount of information only? I can’t see how.

I have never made an important decision without asking and researching all necessary avenues, but by not having the ability to ask the top official of their party policy regarding an issue, where can I go?

I love Canada and only am looking for the best for our country and all Canadians.

Am I wrong?
