It was nice to see one other person in St. Albert took the time to look into the taxpayer pillaging by the city on the water utilities fee increases. I still say it is wrong to be collecting in advance for something that may or may not happen and the funds may get diverted elsewhere according to the mayors’ and councils’ whims.
When you add it all up more than 20 per cent in tax hikes for property and hidden water/utility fees is absurd and totally unacceptable.
The thinking of some of the city's population that Mayor Nolan Crouse can do no wrong and is above being accountable is a crock. He is an elected individual who is accountable and answerable to every taxpayer in this city. I really don't care how long you have personally known him or choose to defend him he has chosen to put himself in a position of public trust. That trust has really slipped with a lot of people based on the number of voters against him in the last election. A lot of us do not agree with how this city is being run and our tax dollars spent.
Councillors – for those of you who have sat on council way too long and feel it is your right to claim that seat for life, think again. The failure of being able to attract business to St. Albert, provide affordable housing and decent infrastructure, while crying for more employees and more space to put them in is definitely not putting the people of St Albert first. Try thinking outside the box and get off your pedestal of entitlement. If you can't, maybe it's time to retire.
