Re: Foreign workers vs. Jason Kenney
I would like to first, as a Canadian, give my apologies to all of the “foreign workers” who came to Canada with the hopes of being able to start a new life for themselves and their families.
As a concerned citizen, I am saddened by the treatment that our government has decided upon for these people.
I am saddened by this as a Canadian citizen. We made a promise of a “new life” in Canada for these people, and after doing so, these people start the process of working hard, be a good person. Save and sacrifice while in this new country that they will soon call home, not only for themselves however, for their families who will eventually join them.
We now take this away because of a few bad employers.
The innocent foreign workers are the ones who must pay for the mistakes of others and the poor decisions of the Canadian government via Jason Kenney.
I am suggesting that his decision to outright cancel the TFW program be rescinded! This is not how we as Canadians treat others from different countries.
In fact, Mr. Kenney is doing more harm than good. Beyond this it will cost the taxpayer even more than any savings that his government thought they would realize in savings! Think of what brought these people to Canada. They obviously solicited others who may have experienced first-hand their “Canadian experience” via friends or relatives. Everything said about Canada was “good” (what would you think the word on the street is now?).
It will be a sad, sad day in Canada when we have to tell these people they must sell every possession they saved money for while in Canada, and now they must return to their homeland. (I wonder if Mr. Kenney would like to have that responsibility?)
When they get to their homeland they are once again faced with a life of low wages and long hours, or no job at all, without a chance to better their lives or their family’s lives!
Sad, sad, sad – are the only words to express my dismay at this sort of treatment given to those we made a promise of hope.
Think of this: “I would not be able to express this opinion if it were not for immigration.”
“You would not be here to read this if it were not for immigration!”
I do not have the per cent of immigrants who have built this country to what it is today, a country which leads the way around the world as being humanitarian.
However, I would be remiss by not mentioning that a great majority of immigrants lead an outstanding life in Canada and contribute huge sums to our economy!
So it begs the question, “Would we not have been better served to show these people a different opportunity?”
Show them that they are not “temporary!”
Show them that they have an “opportunity” to become citizens! Step up with leadership!
Canada and its citizens are good people. We do not treat people from other countries poorly!
Again, please accept my apologies on behalf of Canadians.
