While we as a society move in a positive direction towards inclusion and tolerance, it is upsetting to learn that our current mayor and some council view the additional funding for council upgrades as "self-serving."
Mayor Cathy Heron states that she thinks residents of St.Albert would not be pleased with the decision to add more funding to the allocated money. Accessibility to council chambers would improve communication between council and all residents of St. Albert.
We must always remember that accessibility is not a luxury, it is a necessity. This mayor and council need to be aware of a population of taxpayers that need to be able to live and thrive equally in our community.
