It would appear that the self-proclaimed branch library advocate Valerie Spink would rather twist the new council to her views than submit to the 63 per cent of the voting electorate who voted no when asked.
I, for one, commend Councillor Sheena Hughes for her integrity – something quite rare in current politics. Seems one’s interpretation of “petulant and anger when she was not getting her way” could likewise be interpreted as “frustration and anger at the apparent hypocrisy” of asking the electorate for their democratic choice on a subject; and then ignoring it because they didn’t like the answer.
Accept the “no” for what it is and get on with good governance of our great city. If not, how about an option on our property tax bills – a breakout of the cost of any further branch library expense. If you voted against the library question , you simply endorse your tax bill and are relieved of that cost. Let the advocates pay for it.
