The co-operative efforts of STANSKI and the Riverlot 56 Natural Area Society have resulted in an improved recreational area on St. Albert's doorstep. Riverlot 56 is accessed from Kingswood Park on Sturgeon Road. A new one-kilometre trail is already in use by cross-country skiers.
Over the summer, a re-naturalization took place with the help of many volunteers. Close to 2,000 trees have been planted to border and delineate a new inner trail. As the trees mature in the next number of years, this trail will undoubtedly grow in popularity with nature lovers.
Riverlot 56 has also changed its dog policy to be in line with the City of St. Albert's policy. “Dogs On Leash” are now welcome.
Riverlot 56 will continue to change as we look to more re-naturalization and providing an area that is safe and enjoyable for all outdoor enthusiasts.
