Elect a council that will steer city to success

Calling all eligible voting St. Albertans. I encourage everyone to come out and exercise their right to choose who they would have steer our city to success. Keep in mind everyone is entitled to his or her opinion and this is mine.

Calling all eligible voting St. Albertans. I encourage everyone to come out and exercise their right to choose who they would have steer our city to success. Keep in mind everyone is entitled to his or her opinion and this is mine. I can’t believe how dysfunctional this last session has been. There were too many blunders to list and the blatant mis-use of public funds to mention, but one that stands out is the $5 million plus for an unnecessary roundabout and a roadway to the back end of the legion. The narrow-minded thoughts of if the traffic circle and roadway is built it will draw investment into the area. Who is going to build on a swamp? Look at the costs encountered building the city hall and court house. The past term was led by who can I please and what interest group can I help. This narrow mind ideology is not a democratic process this city needs. We need a leader who is willing to listen to the will of the residents and up hold their wishes and not that of a select few interest groups who happen to be influential in their approach. We need seven individuals that can exercise solid common sense and respect each other for who they are and what they stand for. After all these folks will be put into that position by the citizens of the city based on what they claim to and/or will do for the population. So if you want another term of dysfunctional council vote for Cathy Heron as she supported Mayor Nolan Crouse blindly in his every wish. I say revitalize this city – elect some new councillors to lead this city into some common sense decisions that impact the entire population. Our new mayor will have quite a challenge to bring the entire council together and work for the entire populace of St Albert. There is but only one candidate on the ballot that who has the demeanour and ability to take on this challenge and bring the councillors together and work together in the interest of the citizens of the city. So I encourage those wanting a major change here in St. Albert to come out and support Cam MacKay for mayor. We have had enough of status quo, it’s time for a change and a refreshing breath of new approach to how this city is operated. Having said all of this, it reflects highly on all eligible voters to come out and make that change happen. People who come out and vote have every right to complain after the fact, but if you don’t come out and vote, there is not much you can say. Gordon Cochrane, St. Albert
