People who give of their time and care and assist others in need should be recognized and known in our community of St. Albert. It means a lot to a senior to be helped by their warm, sincere kindness and thoughtfulness and time. On Sept. 27 my car, a 2004 Oldsmobile Aero, stalled at the busy intersection of Lennox Drive and St. Albert Trail. A kind gentleman who was behind me came to see if I needed help. I did indeed! For a moment I panicked on what to do! My car had stalled. He tried, but the car would not stay started. He offered his cellphone to me and called for someone to assist me. He waited until I did get a tow truck on the way. I asked what I owed him. He said, "I do not want anything." I did thank him on the spot but I want to take one step further by saying thanks in our local Gazette paper for all this meant to me – so very much! His further comment was "Stay in the car, but open the window" – that is true care. So again, I give you my "Thank You" – and I hope you will read. You were my angel, sent down as I needed someone to help out. I hope that when you need help that someone may assist you in much the same way. I also wish to recognize the AMA tow-truck driver, who was a professional and caring person. The first thing that he was concerned with was that I be safe. He helped me to get into the truck. Once inside, he came to ask if I needed anything else. I asked to use his cellphone to call my daughter to see where he should tow the car. He stayed with me for a moment to see that I had calmed down, and then proceeded to see what was wrong with the car and arrange for hook-up. While hooking up, he came to check on me to say it will be a few more moments and then we will be on the way to the shop. During the trip, he was warm and friendly with conversation and offered good suggestions for a senior such as me. At the body shop, he helped me from the truck and walked alongside to get me into the office. He then proceeded to unhook the car. Again, after unhooking the car, he came to tell me the car is on the lot and wished me well. He was my other angel who came down to help when in need. His pure thoughtfulness, concerns, care and kindness need to be read by him and those in our community, because warm-hearted people always seem to find a way to make others feel good. They look for no rewards or medals. They do good things because they simply care and always add a spark of joy, and leave a lasting impression forever on me. Thank you to AMA staff who assisted me and to these two fine, warm-hearted gentlemen. My kindest thanks to you both. Mary Cienkowski, St. Albert
