Supporting a ward system for St. Albert

We have heard from several council candidates that they cannot possibly get to every household because there are 20,000 plus households in St. Albert. The simple cure for this problem is to evolve council representation to a ward system.

We have heard from several council candidates that they cannot possibly get to every household because there are 20,000 plus households in St. Albert. The simple cure for this problem is to evolve council representation to a ward system. Many will say that St. Albert isn't big enough for multiple wards. I say that citizens of St. Albert can be better served by councillors who represent a specified portion of the population. A citizen would not need to determine if the councillor they are approaching shares thier views. They only need to approach the representative for their area. Six wards instead of the current system would also save the candidates money by not having to blanket St. Albert with signs. And, they would be better able to approach all the households that they hope to represent. Robert Denis, St. Albert
