MP Cooper mailout misrepresents the facts

In the past federal election, a few people I spoke to were concerned about MP Michael Cooper's right-wing views. I wasn't aware that he didn't know about recent history or the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

In the past federal election, a few people I spoke to were concerned about MP Michael Cooper's right-wing views. I wasn't aware that he didn't know about recent history or the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. More disgusting than his comments in the Gazette was the incredulous, gross misrepresentation of facts that appeared in my mailbox in a mailout from Cooper. This will give my Grade 9 Social Studies class a lot to talk about. You see 14-year-olds are learning about the responsibilities of Members of Parliament. They are learning about the rights of Canadian citizens, about government smear campaigns, the misrepresentation of media facts to suit political agendas (See Trump 2017). Also my students are aware that it was the PC Harper government that did not provide Omar Khadr with his rights. Everyone in Canada regardless of citizenship is protected under law. Thanks once again for spreading hate, Islamophobia and stupidity to my home and classroom. Mr. Trudeau had no choice but to settle Harper's mess. This is not how I wish to be represented Mr. Cooper. This is shameful uneducated behaviour, especially in light of the way our communities dealt with an attack recently. Be glad you don't live in a country where the leader would haul you in to answer to slander, treason, and promoting hatred and fear without a fair trial. This is the very thing our peacekeepers fight against. Matt Diederichs, St. Albert
