I would like to take this opportunity to thank you Mayor Nolan Crouse for your service to our city. Over the past three terms, I feel you have given everything you possibly could to your position. I have marvelled at your dedication to your work and commitment to our city. I and many others know that no one worked harder than you. That is why it has saddened me over this last term that there were some people on council and in the general public who were hell bent on tearing down your legacy. It seemed like some people expected you to be a saint, but these same people conducted themselves in a very poor manner. After all the investigations proving that you absolutely did not do anything to hurt the city or its people, there are still some today who feel the need to tarnish you and what you have done for our city. However strong you may be, I have to imagine all the nasty comments must be difficult for you and your family. Some of the things said about you are just plain awful. Any human being hearing this stuff must find it difficult to bear. I feel you have been unfairly targeted for your point of view in a most vicious way. You’re a good man Mayor Crouse. You are a man of integrity and a role model for how one should be dedicated to their service. You are a man who championed this city like no one else before. History will show you were one of our greatest mayors. In spite of any negative comments you may hear, you should know that there are many more like me who admire you immensely. Your class maintained throughout the baseless attacks is an example for all of us about how to conduct ourselves during adversity. Our city is much better today than the first day you took office. And that primarily comes from your leadership and long term vision. Your positive impact on this city will be felt for a long time to come. The next mayor has very big shoes to fill. I wish you well Mayor Crouse in whichever endeavours you decide to pursue. I hope you stay active in our community; we need strong leaders like you.
