Entire St. Albert city council was punted in 2001

As a resident and taxpayer in St. Albert, I believe it is important to look back to the civic election of 2001 for some guidance as to what we citizens should do with regards to some of the incumbents who are running for council in 2017.

As a resident and taxpayer in St. Albert, I believe it is important to look back to the civic election of 2001 for some guidance as to what we citizens should do with regards to some of the incumbents who are running for council in 2017. In 2001, the citizens in their wisdom decided to punt the entire group of seven incumbents and replace them with a new mayor and six councillors. You may ask why ? The answer is that the voters were sick and tired of all the dithering and indecision from the 1998 – 2001 council regarding the construction of the West By-Pass road (Ray Gibbon Drive). The new council proceeded with the road. The current council has gained notoriety for their petty actions, inability to make decisions and overall dysfunctionality (based on a government of Alberta municipal inspection report). My recommendation is simple, please be careful about who you vote for. Do not be afraid to punt anyone who is in the dysfunctional camp. Roland Schech, St. Albert
