Summit Physiotherapy: The Local Clinic for Treatment and a Great Place to Work

Chad Burden, Registered Physiotherapist and owner of Summit Physiotherapy is focused on the well-being of both clients and staff. His goal is to provide the best physiotherapy for clients and an outstanding workplace for the team. As he actively looks to hire a local physiotherapist, he reflects on his journey with Summit so far.

“The business has been in St. Albert since 1982,” says Burden. “I took ownership of the clinic in 2012.”

Summit’s services include myofascial release; massage therapy; acupuncture; intramuscular stimulation (IMS); craniosacral therapy; sports physiotherapy, treatments for TMJ disorders, chronic pain, and injuries; shockwave therapy and customized wellness packages. Summit is well known as an ideal place for physiotherapy for those recovering from vehicle accidents.

“One of the reasons we are successful,” says Burden, “is because of the longevity and experience of the staff. Some of our physiotherapists have been here for more than 30 years. There are not many injuries we have not seen or treated. We know what works and what works well. We are also very hands on and provide one-to-one treatment as our team has a vast amount of knowledge in each practice area. Our clients comment a lot about how much they appreciate that.”

Very much a people person, Burden greatly enjoys designing a course of treatment for clients and getting to know them. The entire team is focused on relationship building; clients know their physiotherapist is not just interested in the injury, but the lifestyle factors and stressors that also impact their health. They like that each clinic member takes the time to get to know them, who they are as a patient and in the community.

That community focus is very important to Burden. In addition to sponsoring three children through Compassion Canada, he and the clinic support a variety of local events from non-profit organizations and charities.

“St. Albert is a small, tight knit community and we all enjoy supporting each other,” smiles Burden. “We really stick to the ‘keep it local’ focus. This is also why I enjoy being part of one of the local Business Network International (BNI) chapters. The organization really helps business people form local connections.”

Burden is looking to further this local connection by hiring local physiotherapists. Summit is actively seeking experienced team members that share the clinic’s values and corporate culture.

“It’s a win-win situation,” explains Burden. “To be able to work right in the city without commuting to Edmonton or the outer rural areas, in an established practice where the team is empowered daily. We look forward to expanding our team with the right individuals. We are expanding quickly, so now is the ideal time to onboard new staff.”

He continues, “We really could not do what we do here without our physiotherapists, massage therapists and especially our support staff. I say a big thank you to the team. I also thank our clients for their trust in us and their many referrals.”

Summit Physiotherapy has been a part of the local community for 40 years. The clinic is celebrating a silver Readers’ Choice award for best physiotherapy clinic and a gold award for best massage studio. Learn more by visiting the clinic online and on Facebook.
