St. Albert Denture & Implant Clinic Combines Technology and Experience to Create Unique Treatment Plans

Kyle Laliberte, licensed denturist, has more than 10 years’ experience, but his roots in dentistry go far beyond that.

“My father was a denturist, so I was exposed to the field from a very young age,” says Kyle. “I found it only fitting to follow in the trade. This career allows me to work with people as part of a team, and with patients. I also get to work with my hands. Not every treatment plan is the same. This is what makes my career so interesting and rewarding.”

His father, Rodney Laliberte, opened St. Albert Denture & Implant Clinic in 1988. After completing the Denturist program at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT), Kyle became a partner in his father’s practice. Rodney retired in 2017; Kyle is now the sole owner.

Being around denturism all his life, Kyle sees how technology has improved the patient experience. He incorporates it into St. Albert Denture & Implant Clinic’s daily processes.

“Thanks to digital technology, what we can do has come a very long way,” Kyle explains. “All of our dentures are created digitally as opposed to setting teeth in wax. We use a 3D printer for our “try-in’s,” or temporary dentures that patients can wear for a few weeks. This allows them to get used to it and for us to verify the fit, bite, aesthetics and make adjustments if needed. Traditionally people felt stuck with their dentures since changing them was a costly, time consuming process. With 3D dentures, adjustments can be made quickly and affordably before fabricating the final dentures on their milling machine. Mouth scanning, when dealing with natural teeth for partial dentures or nightguards, also provides a far better result than a traditional impression, leading to better overall satisfaction from the start.”

He continues. “Today’s dentures are more comfortable than ever before. The fit is superior. The bite is more balanced. We can make adjustments perfectly on the computer. We are able to design a treatment plan for implants for people who want a more stable solution. We co-ordinate with dentists and surgeons for implants and various other treatments.”

Kyle modernized the clinic to be fully digital as of last September, leveraging technology in all of its services, including digital full and partial dentures, fixed/removable implant dentures and nightguards. They also provide a wide range of other services including same day repairs and relines, flexible partials, and teeth whitening.

Everyone is welcome at St. Albert Denture & Implant Clinic. Kyle encourages visits as part of your routine health maintenance. “The biggest thing is understanding that your gums don’t necessarily hurt when you have underlying issues. We are here to do a check up, alignment, and be on top with preventative measures. This saves you time and money down the road.”

He’s proud to own a local practice in St. Albert, noting “St. Albert is a business community. Our city has really grown as a community but is still able to maintain that small-town feeling.” With the privilege of being able to practice in St. Albert, he feels its also important to give back to his community. He’s proud to be able to donate to the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation, St. Albert’s Young Life, and is looking to donate to various senior citizen initiatives in St. Albert.

One defining aspect of the business community in St. Albert is how everyone banded together to protect each other during COVID-19.

“We have new guidelines in place,” Kyle confirms of his clinic. “We have taken the recommendations for safety measures very seriously, especially given our demographic and our patient base. We go above and beyond with ventilated system disinfection to help clean the air as well as surfaces.”

He and his team look forward to continuing to grow the practice and helping patients look and feel their best.

“We’ve come a long way,” he concludes. “Thanks to technology, we are always evolving and offering the best for our patients. That’s what I love the most about my job.
