Joseph William Connelly immigrated to Alberta in 1904. In 1909, he established Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home with the vision of offering grieving members of his community the comforts and caring of family in their time of need. His eldest son, Bill, worked with him. Later, younger brother Thomas joined the company. Several generations and more than century later, Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home and Crematorium continues their tradition. The third generation saw Bill’s sons, Bill Jr., Terry and Gerry (president), join the company. The fourth generation, Gerry’s son Cameron (vice president) started in 2011. Today, the family operates three funeral homes with spacious reception centres and ample parking: Downtown Chapel, St. Albert Chapel and Edmonton South Chapel. Connelly-McKinley own their own crematorium, so families are ensured their loved one is never out of their care. Connelly-McKinley looks after the loved ones of the families as if they were their own. The company’s longevity stems from a genuine desire to provide families with the compassion and dedication needed in the most difficult times in life. Families feel at home with the services, rooted as they are in the values set forth by the previous generations. It's not the bottom line that drives Connelly-McKinley. They are inspired by something far more important – family. The funeral homes provides a full suite of services, including advanced planning, funeral planning, and post-funeral support. A concierge desk is on hand to assist with the flights, car rentals, accommodations, transit and other considerations that surround a funeral. Offering comfort, safety and convenience for the funeral party, a Prevost coach bus is equipped with an onboard theatre system, kitchenette and restroom facilities. It also contains a secured casket resting area to provide a safer transportation alternative to a long funeral procession, particularly in inclement weather. Additionally, the Connelly family is pleased to offer the coach bus at no charge to non-profit groups that might not otherwise be able to afford transportation to local events. This service is contingent upon availability. Pre-planning is one of the many services offered. By pre-planning a funeral, you relieve your family of having to make important financial decisions during a period of great stress and grief.  It is important to realize that the ritual of a service isn't for the deceased, but for the living. It is a time when friends and family gather together to grieve openly and to provide support for each other. Connelly-Mckinley VintageBeyond the service of excellence, one very important service is Aftercare, which is offered because the Connelly family knows it makes a difference. This is more than filling out forms; aftercare is about ensuring the families have all the support they require.  Connelly-McKinley’s dedicated team members are professionals in several different designations so they can help grieving families in many ways.
