Midnight Magic Lingerie, a 2024 gold Readers’ Choice award winner, sells underwear, lingerie, swimwear, sleepwear, post-surgical supports, and breast forms. Robin Molyneaux, owner, ensures a special experience in store – so much so that some of her first clients are now bringing their daughters in for their own first bra fittings. Men are not forgotten either. A large selection of men’s underwear, swimwear, and shirts gives men an option to quietly shop for these personal items, or for their loved ones to buy them as gifts. You never know what other items may pop up from time to time! Molyneaux has been known to selectively feature shoes, purses, lamps, and wine openers – those lovely little extras that can really make your day special.
“At Midnight Magic, we believe that every person is unique and deserves intimate apparel and swimsuits that provide comfort, support, and style,” says Molyneaux. “Our main mission is to have high quality options for all breast sizes, large and small, AA to O cup, and in a variety of designs. We also have a special focus on breast forms for women affected by breast cancer. We are an AADL approved vendor for Alberta, but the forms can also be purchased by the general public. Many women don’t know that they qualify for a new breast form or even a partial every three years.”
In the right undergarments, clothes fit better, posture is improved, and confidence soars. For example, a properly fitting bra that lifts the breasts can give a slimming effect to a pronounced midsection. Another example is when developing young women find their first bras and stop hunching over to hide their discomfort or developing breasts.
There are medical benefits too.
“A proper fitting bra helps prevents kyphosis, which is a rounding, or hump, of the back,” says Molyneaux. “This is due to the straps holding the very heavy dense breast tissues versus the band of the bra.”
The customer service is truly special. Molyneaux selects team members that share her passion for the profession – and they all go above and beyond.
“We have an in-house seamstress,” Molyneaux notes. “We do not alter bras unless we have exhausted all measures to find one that has been professionally made in the first place, as they know the weight and shape for breasts in each cup and band size. However, if necessary, we can and will make the adjustments to ensure the best fit.”
Molyneaux is on a mission! She says, “There are so many women that will spend thousands on their outer clothes and shoes and don’t give the same attention to their undergarments, thinking no one will see them. But is that true? You do see it, and you matter. The benefits are that your clothes DO fit better, and you stand straighter when you have a great-fitting bra on, and that expensive outwear piece shows nicer with a properly fitting bra.”
She travels the world to find the best fabrics, innovations, and solutions. Molyneaux and her team listen intently to their customers so they can stock bras for people with limited mobility (for example, arthritis makes fastening clips difficult), women whose weight challenges have produced extra folds, mastectomy patients, people with sensitive skin, and more. If a product does not exist to fill a customer’s need, Molyneaux brings it up with her vendors, manufacturers and suppliers.
The future of Midnight Magic sees Molyneaux bringing her inventory to a centralized location to better serve clients. As she transitions some inventory from the Edmonton location to St. Albert, there will be flash sales and deals to watch out for.
