“I had an older cousin in dentistry, and that is how I gained interest in the field,” Dr. Wittrock shares. “I shadowed him while I took my bachelor’s degree and was inspired to go into dentistry.”
He considers the practice to be enjoyable both on the restorative and aesthetic side. When asked what his top tip was for oral health care, he says, “Prevention! It is better than trying to fix things later!”

School aged children should avoid sugary drinks, sodas, and energy drinks. Those are some of the main causes of cavities.”
One thing that many parents question is the effect of dairy milk on teeth and gum tissue. Dr. Wittrock is happy to set the record straight.
“Milk as a drink is great for overall health and I encourage patients to have their children drink milk. From a dental perspective the concern is that milk contains sugar lactose which will contribute to cavity formation if oral hygiene is not maintained. As long as the child is brushing well twice a day milk is a healthy part of the diet.”
