The Farmers' Market is an integral part of St. Albert's identity,
Landrex is a locally owned land development company invested in building strong, safe and social communities. Having lived and worked in St. Albert, the Landrex family enjoys giving back to the city, and they found a picture perfect way to do this.
“The St. Albert Farmers’ Market is the largest Farmers Market in Western Canada. It started as an idea, and has shown how passion can go a long way to promoting small businesses,” says company spokesperson Ryan Andrews. “For Landrex, this Farmers Market is one of our most cherished community events. We understand that people come from across Canada to shop the market, and we wanted to make their moments here even more memorable.”
To do this, Landrex is sponsoring a free photo booth. The booth, provided by Mojo Photo, sits beside the information tent on St. Anne Street, and is large enough to host small groups of families and friends. Photos can easily be shared on social media, and/or printed in the booth.
Originally launched in 1982 by the St. Albert Chamber of Commerce, this Market’s roots go back more than 30 years. After moving its location on Perron Street in 1987, the market continued to grow until it took up the majority of St. Anne Street and St. Thomas Street. By 1988, the St. Albert Farmers’ Market had up to 70 vendors each week showcasing everything from produce to baking, woodwork to preserves, and much more.
The growth didn’t stop. Today more than 250 vendors delight locals and tourists with a huge variety of local goods and produce, including Henriette Phalempin, and Matilda and Martin Wurz, who have been full-time vendors since the Market’s launch. Another 10 vendors have been selling at the market for more than 25 years.
“The St. Albert Farmers’ Market is an integral part of the city’s identity,” says Andrews. “Our photo booth helps everyone capture the fun and excitement of attending the Market, and Landrex couldn’t be happier to provide this booth as one of the many ways we give back to the community we love.”
The Landrex family is excited to see local residents’ and visitors’ photos from the booth, which will be set up on the following dates: June 24, July 8, July 22, August 5, August 19, September 2, September 16, September 30.
“Building and preserving fond memories is as important as building and preserving great communities,” concludes Andrews. “Let’s capture what makes a strong community like St. Albert thrive.”
