Budget Blinds Edmonton & St. Albert Celebrates Milestone Anniversary

For 30 years, Budget Blinds has provided expertise and outstanding products for homeowners’ window covering needs. Jill Cooper is the co-owner of the Budget Blinds Edmonton & St. Albert franchise location.

“My husband, Rob Cooper, and I began our Budget Blinds business in April 2006. After 10 years of growth and success we opened the doors to our current location and design centre in 2016.,” says Jill. “We are pleased to provide a variety of blinds, shutters, shades, drapes, accents, and unique solutions that provide privacy, natural light control, and prevent heat loss/cold air entry.”

She continues, “We also offer safe, efficient, and cordless automated blinds powered by batteries or integrated into hardwired home automation systems. We can even retrofit existing corded shades with automation.”

The Coopers count their longevity in the business and in the community along with their educational approach as factors in their success.

“We are educators, not just consultants – customers have told us that we’ve educated them on aspects of window coverings that no one else has, and that our team is very knowledgeable. We also offer the best ‘no questions asked’ warranty in the industry and offer more product lines than most other sellers.”

She notes, “Other factors in our success include the fantastic people on our team – neither our growth nor success could happen without the people we work with. Additionally, Budget Blinds corporate is a phenomenal organization; a leader in our industry and the largest retailer of window coverings in North America. Our business prides itself on achieving results with out-of-the-box solutions for challenging applications.”

Jill has some great advice when it comes to window coverings.

“Have your daytime and nighttime privacy needs looked after, but only cover the widows you need covered. We take a ‘less is more approach’ and focus on the windows and rooms most important to you instead of all of them at the same time, especially when you first move into a home.

“It is important to live in your home for a full year, through all the stages of the sun and changing seasons, to truly understand what all your window covering needs are. You can always add more window treatments after you’ve lived in a space for a while and uncovered issues like glare and poor insulation.”

She continues, “Add decorative drapery panels to prominent windows to personalize your space with colour and patterns, and to add softness, warmth, and elegance.”

Jill further points out that, “In 2018, Health Canada introduced legislation that had a major impact on our industry. As of 2021, no window coverings can be sold that have exposed cords. The effect is that many of our traditional product lines were eliminated or had to be re-engineered to be compliant with this legislation. We only sell compliant products and educate all clients on the safety reasons for the legislation.”

Budget Blinds Edmonton & St. Albert is pleased to celebrate four Readers’ Choice Awards.

“We love the support of our business community, its willingness to cross-promote and support each other with growth opportunities and events,” Jill concludes. “We are experts at what we do, knowledgeable of the industry, changing trends, and products. We’ve been in the community for 17 years and we’re here to stay; more than 60% of our clients are repeats and referrals. There is no higher compliment than someone putting their trust in us a second time – the first time is sales, the second time is performance. Thank you for continuing to choose us and for your referrals.
