RE: High-tech bus fare system welcomed, Gazette, Sep. 5.
I was a passenger on that bus and I am appalled at the total lack of courtesy and manners displayed by your group during this photo-op. Apart from the delay in departure not one of you acknowledged our presence, let alone offered a “good morning” nor did you introduce yourselves or give a quick explanation why you where there.
“Oh, look there are actually people on this bus,” just doesn’t cut it Mr. Minister, I rather saw it as an insult. Having no choice we patiently waited for the photo shoot to end and you left the bus just as you arrived, without a backwards glance, without a “thank you for your patience” without a “have a nice day” – kudos go the bus driver who did apologize to us once we finally got underway.
Furthermore, we always hear laments about young voters’ political apathy. Almost all of the passengers on this bus were young students, possibly first time voters, I was the sole senior and your behaviour this morning certainly did not help in attracting young voters’ interests. What a wasted opportunity.
I hope for more courteous and friendlier encounters should they arise in the future.
