City ignoring noise issues

Re: Villeneuve Road Closure

I can empathize with the residents of North Ridge and Deer Ridge with homes backing Villeneuve road. Their complaints regarding the noise levels, speeding and increased traffic volumes along Villeneuve Road are valid and are identical to those experienced by residents with homes along Giroux Road years ago when the Ray Gibbon to Giroux Road connector was completed.

While the truck traffic behind our house has diminished (because it is now on Villenueve Road), we still have issues with excessive speed and noise levels. In the summer, it is difficult to carry on a conversation while sitting in our backyard due to the noise.

I realize that growth will continue to occur and traffic levels will increase as a result. It is apparent that while planning for the increases in traffic (new roads and changes to existing roads), St. Albert’s traffic engineering department is oblivious to the requirement for proper noise abatements and setbacks.

If this section of Villeneuve Road is not closed, my suggestion for all residents impacted by this issue is to appeal your tax assessment, as the value of your property may have diminished.
