opinion

We understand that the city council is experiencing tight money at the moment, but it is completely unnecessary to cut 35 per cent of the St. Albert Public Library ‘s (SAPL) funds. Almost all citizens of St. Albert use libraries to learn, for school assignments and/or just for fun. This cut will also lower the amounts of events (like the annual Summer Reading Game, classes, reading tutoring and more.) We suggest that the council stops spending money on tearing up and paving St Albert Trail, adding traffic circles on Villeneuve Road and unnecessary paths and landscaping. All this makes St. Albert aesthetically appealing but does little to benefit the citizens if this city. We urge the city Council and Mayor to strongly reconsider this decision.
