Richard (Dick) William Trembath, 97, of St. Albert, passed away peacefully at his home on March 23, 2025.
Dick was predeceased by his wife, Doreen, sisters, Betty and Eileen, and brother, Bob.
He is survived by his four sons, Fred (Deb), Rick, Don (Lisa) and Gord (Michelle); nine grandchildren, Stephanie, Amanda, Alyson, Rebecca, Riley, Walker, Bebe, Cooper and Joel; two great grandchildren, Hunter and Hayden; sister-in-law, Sandie, and many nieces and nephews.
Dick was born on October 8, 1927, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He married Eva Doreen Ekin on September 25, 1954, and together they made a really good team, raised four sons, and created lots of wonderful memories until her passing on May 5, 2009.
He started working for Macleods Limited in 1952, in their headquarters in Winnipeg. The company operated 200 retail hardware stores in western Canada. He most enjoyed working to implement the first computerized systems used throughout their operations.
Dick moved to St. Albert in 1977, started his own training and development company shortly afterwards, and served small businesses for many years.
He was a devoted Christian, a member of the St. James United Church in Winnipeg and the Sturgeon Valley Baptist Church in St. Albert and served in many positions in both churches over the years.
Dick grew up across the street from a golf course, and close to a curling club, fell in love with both sports at a young age, and met wonderful people who became regular playing companions and lifelong friends.
In later years, he read hundreds of books, and wrote hundreds of letters to family and friends, to entertain and encourage them with stories from his books and his life. The last book he read was the Bible in 2024, and the last letters he wrote were his Christmas cards, to let people know he thought he was blessed more in 2024 than in any other year.
Dick was fortunate to always have really good people, and activities he enjoyed, in his life. He was wise enough to appreciate and make the most of them while he was here.
Cremation has already taken place.
A private service will be held in Vancouver at a later date, to accommodate his family.
