LeBron James (ankle) and Anthony Davis (illness) to sit for Lakers vs. Raptors

TORONTO — Los Angeles Lakers stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis were both listed as unavailable for Wednesday's game against the Raptors in Toronto.

James has left ankle soreness, the team said, and will sit for the first time since missing more than two weeks in November with an adductor injury.

Davis left Tuesday's loss to Cleveland with a non-COVID illness. Davis earned last week's NBA Western Conference player of the week honours after averaging 37.8 points, 13.0 rebounds, three assists and 3.3 blocks. The Lakers won three of four games, beating Portland, Milwaukee and Washington.

The Lakers arrived in Toronto having won eight of their past 11 games, for a 10-13 record.

The Raptors, who have also been hard-hit by injuries and illness the past few weeks, are 12-12.
