For the week of March 23 to 30, 2018
There may still be snow on the ground, but Spring is officially here! Say goodbye to old man Winter by getting out and finding new opportunities! The St. Albert Community Information & Volunteer Centre has many volunteer opportunities to choose from and can help find the right fit for you.
The streets of St. Albert are going to get wild during the RunWild Marathon on Sunday, May 6. There are a variety of volunteer opportunities available both on race day as well as pre-race in the days leading up to the race. Volunteers are needed to help in areas such as course logistics, course marshal, start/finish line, gear check, and kids fun zone. It all happens for a good cause with funds raised going to the Zebra Child Protection Centre and the St. Albert Seniors Association.
The Collective Marketplace attendant
The Collective Marketplace is a downtown St. Albert space where young adults can experience becoming entrepreneurs in a safe environment and develop social enterprising skills. Your help is needed to assist these young entrepreneurs as an attendant and by assisting with sales. Shifts are available Monday through Saturday. This is an excellent opportunity for someone wanting to get more involved with the community. Minimum age is 16.
Tool Library manager
Do you know a thing or two about tools? Assist the new St. Albert Tool Library for three to four hours on a Thursday night from 6 to 9 p.m. in a sea can at Grace Family Church parking lot. You will be working alongside a board member or two, learning how to run the tool inventory system to check tools in and out to residents borrowing them. You would also need to inspect tools to make sure they are in working order and shelving them, as well as taking in donations. If you can’t work Thursdays but are interested in another shift please let us know. With enough people they will be able to open the library a couple of times a week. Must be 18 or older.
International Children’s Festival
Be part of a fun festival that inspires and ignites the imaginations of the young and young at heart. This is a great opportunity to meet new people, learn new skills, and share a magical experience with over 55,000 children and families. Assist with performances, crafts, hospitality, green team, and tons of other opportunities! No experience necessary. Festival runs May 29 to June 3 in St. Albert.
