Youth soccer festival, Impact women and Rangers updates

The St. Albert Soccer Association hosts its annual season wind-up for youth teams this weekend at Riel Park.

The Timbits Jamboree on Saturday for the U4, U5, U6 and U7 teams features 30-minute fun games and activities from 9:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

The Canada Soccer Active Start Soccer Fest on Sunday goes from 10 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. with a series of mini games for the U9 and U11 teams.

Organizers are expecting more than 3,000 people over the course of the weekend and the event goes rain or shine.

Premier women

First place was on the line Tuesday in the premier women’s division between St. Albert Impact 1 (Spaidal) and Northwest United.

The Impact (6-1) trailed Northwest (6-0-1) and Victoria (6-0-1) by one point before the contest. The score was unavailable at press time.

The Impact were coming off their fifth consecutive victory in Sunday’s 4-2 result against the Wind (1-6) at ESA Complex.

Brittany Kindzierski struck twice and Casey Paplawski and Sheena Tracey also scored as the Impact built up a 4-0 lead before managing the remainder of the match.

Kindzierski’s team-high six goals is one back of the division leaders in the Edmonton District Soccer Association.

On tap Sunday is St. Albert Impact 3 (Murphy) at 2 p.m. at ESA Complex.

Impact 3 (3-4) and Impact 2 (3-3-1) played Tuesday in St. Albert but the score was unavailable at press time.

Impact 2 is in Sherwood Park on Sunday to play Phoenix (2-4-1) at 7 p.m. at Millennium Place.

Impact 4 women

The St. Albert Impact 4 (Murphy) division 1A women’s team exceeded its season total in goals in Monday’s scoring spree.

The Impact filled the net 16 times against Azzurri (0-4-2, 14 GF/41 GA) after producing nine during a 3-1-1 start to the Edmonton District Soccer Association fixtures.

Kaitlyn Diduck tallied six times, Brittany Kindzierski, Brittany Purkis and Kelsey Carter added a pair each and singles were scored by Katrina Bonnycastle, Shelby Oshust, Emily Pavelich and Shyanne Walton in the 16-3 blowout at ESA Complex.

Diduck and Kindzierski are the Impact’s co-leaders in goals with six apiece after the team’s four win in a row.

The next match is Monday against Olympia FC (1-3-1, 7GF/10 GA) at 6:30 p.m. at Riel Park.

The Impact (4-1-1, 25 GF/6 GA) and FC Excelsior (4-0-1, 11GF/5 GA) are battling for top spot in the division table.

Rangers results

Two matches in three days produced mixed results for the division 1A St. Albert Rangers.

Dan Czwartkowski did the damage offensively in Saturday’s 1-0 outcome against the Spruce Grove Saints/Man City (1-4, 2 GF/9 GA) at Fuhr Sports Park and the first-place Northwest United (5-1, 19 GF/5 GA) overpowered the Rangers 6-2 Monday at ESA Complex.

The Rangers (2-3-1, 9 GF/17 GA) are back on the pitch Monday against Croatia Hajduk (2-2-1) in the Edmonton District Soccer Association. Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Croatia Soccer Club.
