The Victoria Day Classic soccer tournament charged on through the rain over the weekend.
But due to weather conditions, some unplanned changes were made in the tournament schedule this year. As the tournament went on, the grass fields became too flooded to play on, forcing the results in some divisions to be decided in penalty kicks. Some teams chose to reschedule their games for later dates.
Despite the weather some Impact teams were able to find success. The Impact (Saccomanno) earned the most points in the U14 Boys Pool A in order to win the gold. In the U14 Girls Pool A, the Impact (Murray) took home the silver.
The Impact (Munguia) were able to achieve the most points in the U12 Boys Pool A to earn the gold medal. In the U12 Boys Pool B, the Impact (Sloan) placed second while the Impact (Denney) took the bronze.
Moving away from the points system, the Impact U12 Tier 1 Girls beat the Edmonton Strikers (Kadri) to win the bronze medal in the U12 Girls Pool A.
The gold medal match for the U16 Girls Pool A will be played on a later date in drier conditions. The game will pit the Impact (BK/ Jahns) against Impact (Odinga).
