Faceoff times are 1:45 p.m. today against the Lloydminster Bobcats (2-9-1) and 1:15 p.m. Sunday against the Calgary Royals (8-2-2) at Akinsdale Arena.
The Raiders (5-7) are 3-2 during the stretch of games at the Akinsdale and Go Auto rinks and 4-4 overall on home ice.
The Raiders are coming off back-to-back 2-1 losses to the Okotoks Oilers (6-3-3) and Red Deer Chiefs (6-2-4) last weekend after winning three in a row.
Slash on Fire
The St. Albert Slash host Calgary Fire today in the Alberta Female Hockey league.
Puck drop is 2:15 p.m. at Go Auto Arena.
The Slash (8-2) were winners of three in a row before Friday’s game against the visiting Rocky Mountain Raiders (5-3-1). The score was unavailable at press time.
Last weekend, the 2017 Esso Cup midget AAA national champions posted road wins of 3-1 against the Raiders (5-3-1) and 1-0 against the Fire (2-6-2).
Junior B update
The next home game for St. Albert Merchants is Sunday against the North Edmonton Red Wings in the Capital Junior B Hockey League.
Faceoff is 8 p.m. at Akinsdale Arena.
Both teams played Wednesday and the Merchants (8-7) lost 8-2 to the Beverly Warriors (12-2) at Clareview Arena and the Red Wings (10-3-2) won 7-4 against the Morinville Jets (8-5-1) at Londonderry Arena.
Matt Havens and Christen Foote scored as the Merchants were outshot 44-26 by Beverly. Ethan Crotty (5-6, 3.97 GAA) and Brandon Boughen (3-1, 3.78 GAA) let in four goals apiece.
The Merchants skated into Friday’s contest against the host Stony Plain Flyers (7-8-1) with six losses in eight games. The score was unavailable at press time.
Sabres game
The St. Albert Gregg Distributors Sabres are back in action Monday in the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League.
The Sabres (8-2-3) and KC Squires (1-10-1) hook up at 8 p.m. at Callingwood Recreation Centre.
The Sabres are 3-1-1 in their last five games after Tuesday’s 6-1 win over the SSAC Southgate Lions (5-7-2) at Terwillegar Community Recreation Centre.
Ethan Sundar and Zachry Desranleau tallied twice and added one assist apiece. Breck McKinley (power) and Palmer Strang (shorthanded) also scored and Tyson Greenway, Levi Fesyk and Zakk Makeiff had two helpers each.
Shots were 34-14 for the Sabres and Matt Tebbutt (7-0-1, 2.17 GAA) was in net.
