Upcoming games for midget AAA Slash, bantam elite Raiders and REM 15AA Royals

Slash homestand

Friday the midget AAA St. Albert Slash start a four-game homestand in the Alberta Female Hockey League.

Faceoff is 8:15 p.m. against the Red Deer Chiefs at Go Auto Arena.

The first-place Slash (15-1-1, 71 GF/12 GA) are 3-0 against Red Deer (7-10-3, 35 GF/48 GA) this season.

At the Christmas break, Madison Willan leads the AFHL in scoring with 18 goals, including five on the power play, 15 assists and 33 points in 17 games.

The third-year forward is 56-53-109 overall in 74 regular-season games with the two-time defending Esso Cup national champions.

Holly Borrett (8-0) also ranks first in GAA at 0.63, is tied with Bella McKee (8-2-1, 1.08 GAA) of the second-place Lloydminster Steelers (15-4-1, 56 GF/31 GA) for the most wins while posting a league-high four shutouts along with McKee and Slash teammate Brianna Sank (7-1-1, 0.78 GAA).

The Slash have 13 games scheduled before the Final Frozen Four provincials, March 22 to 24 in St. Albert, and the winner also hosts the British Columbia champion in the best-of-three Pacific Region qualifier for the Esso Cup, April 21 to 27 in Sudbury, Ont.

AFHL Raiders

The bantam elite St. Albert Raiders resume play in the Alberta Female Hockey League this weekend with a pair of home games.

Start times are 8:15 p.m. Friday against the Lloydminster Steelers (11-2-1) at Troy Murray Arena and 2:15 p.m. Saturday against the North Central Impact (11-4) at Go Auto Arena.

The Raiders (3-11-4), fifth in the north division, were 0-3-1 in December.

Paige Ring leads the Raiders in scoring with four goals and six points.

REM 15 Royals

The first-place St. Albert Royals in the Rural & Edmonton Midget 15AA Hockey League travel Friday to Sylvan Lake to face off against the defending playoff champions.

Puck drop is 7:45 p.m. against the Hockey Central Panthers (13-1-3, 116 GF/27 GA) in the first meeting between the teams since the Panthers swept the Royals in the best-of-five final.

The Royals (16-2, 104 GF/29 GA) are winners of six straight and 12 of the last 13 games.

Tuesday the Royals face off against SSAC Dolce Vita Homes (9-5-3) at 8:30 p.m. at Mark Messier Arena.

Owen Bourque shares fourth place in REM scoring with 28 points and Luke Aston is tied for the league lead in goals with 15.

Aston and Nico Gallo have also produced 25 points apiece.

Jack Robinson (8-1) is the top netminder with a 1.31 GAA.
