Tournament results for Mission teams

U16AA Mission

The U16AA St. Albert Mission returned home from the 44^th annual Gloucester Cumberland Invitational with two wins in four games last weekend.

The Mission are 22-11-2 overall after losses 6-5 to Gatineau and 3-2 to Gloucester Cumberland and wins of 7-2 against Laurentides and 6-1 against Nepean in the 12-team division.

The tournament hosts edged Gatineau 6-5 in the final.

Janie Lajoie led the Mission in scoring with seven points while Reeve Spanakis and Charlotte Campbell notched six each.

Spanakis netted a team-high five goal and Lajoie slotted four.

Jamie Stolk and Nyah Bodnarchuk had four assists apiece.

The Mission have four games left until provincials, March 15 to 17 in Calgary, starting today against Sherwood Park Power at 11:45 a.m. at Millennium Place.

The 41^st annual Canadian Ringette Championships are April 7 to 13 in Charlottetown and Summerside, P.E.I.

U14AA Mission

The U14AA St. Albert Mission split four games in the last tournament before provincials.

Results at the 44^th annual Gloucester Cumberland Invitational last weekend were the 4-3 loss to Nepean, 6-1 win against Nova Scotia, 3-2 loss to New Brunswick and 6-3 win against Manitoba.

Nepean outscored the Mission 3-1 in the last period and New Brunswick broke a 1-1 tie at the break with consecutive goals during a 4:28 minute span.

New Brunswick finished second overall to Waterloo in the 2-1 final of the 12-team division.

Jazzi Fevin potted seven goals, Brielle Lajoie recorded three goals and three assists, and Natalia Cesarz had five helpers.

The Mission skate into today’s game against the Spruce Grove Storm with an overall record of 25-10-3. Start time is 12:15 p.m. at Stu Barnes Arena.

The 2019 Esso Golden Ring champions also play Sherwood Park Power and Edmonton Elite leading up to provincials, March 15 to 17 at Sherwood Park.

The Mission are guaranteed a berth at westerns, March 27 to 31 at Servus Credit Union Place. The tournament also consists of the U16A, U19A and open A divisions.

The Mission were silver medallists at the 2018 provincials and westerns.

U19AA Mission

The U19AA St. Albert Mission ended the 44^th annual Gloucester Cumberland Invitational with three losses after the tournament-opening victory against the host team.

Vail Ketsa, Lauren Miller and Grace Henry scored in the 3-1 outcome against Gloucester Cumberland.

The setbacks were 7-3 to Nepean, 9-2 to Lac St. Louis and 6-5 to City of Ottawa.

Nepean lost the final 7-2 to Laurentides in the 12-team division.

Ketsa, Miller and Liv Helland finished with five points apiece.

Ketsa fired four goals while Miller, Kirsten McEachern and Grace Haney tallied twice. Helland also picked up four assists.

Ketsa, Millar and netminder Jordyn Scott are members of Team Alberta for the Canada Winter Games, Feb. 13 to March 3 at Red Deer. Heather Konkin of the Mission is also the Team Alberta head coach.

Sunday the Mission hosts Sherwood Park Power at 11:15 a.m. at Servus Credit Union Place.

Provincials are March 15 to 17 in Calgary and nationals are April 7 to 13 in Charlottetown and Summerside, P.E.I.

Westerns update

The St. Albert Ringette Association is seeking ambassadors for teams competing at westerns.

The March 27 to 31 tournament at Servus Credit Union Place features the U14AA, U16A, U19A and open A division provincial champions from Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, plus host teams from St. Albert.
