Tigers baseball

Friday the St. Albert Tigers host the Sherwood Park Athletics in the Sunburst Baseball League.

First pitch is 7:30 p.m. at Legion Memorial Park.

The Tigers were 1-2 in the four-team senior AAA circuit before Tuesday’s road game against the defending champion Red Deer Chiefs. The score was unavailable at press time.

Last week the Tigers beat the Confederation Park Cubs 8-6 with another vintage performance by veteran pitcher Craig Tomas and four days later dropped the home opener 15-11 to the Athletics as Jessy Beley belted a grand slam and Jordan Bilodeau hit a three-run wall scraper.

The Tigers started off the season May 16 with the 10-6 setback to the Athletics in Sherwood Park.

Last year the Tigers finished league play at 3-15 (62 RF/144 RA).

Senior B Miners

The St. Albert Miners have home floor advantage this weekend in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League.

The reigning Presidents’ Cup senior B champions play the Rockyview Knights (4-3) Saturday at 8 p.m. and the Calgary Mountaineers (3-2) Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at Go Auto Arena.

The Miners are 6-0 after going 57-2-1 overall the last two years as the first Alberta team to repeat at nationals.

Crude lacrosse

The St. Albert Crude are the host team for two junior B Tier I games this weekend at Akinsdale Arena.

Start times are 4:30 p.m. Saturday against the Calgary Chill (6-4) and 6 p.m. Sunday against the Okotoks Marauders (2-4) in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League.

The Crude are 1-6 and winless in four in a row after Sunday’s 10-8 loss to the Rockyview Silvertips (5-3) in Cochrane.
