Super Saturday rugby
Saturday will be a busy day at the St. Albert Rugby Club with three matches throughout the day.The first match of the day begins at noon between the E2 SARFC club and the Clansmen. The fifth place home squad has lost all six of their games so far this year and will be hoping to pick off their first win against the third place Clansmen. The visiting squad has split the season with two wins and two losses so far for the season. The two teams have yet to face off against each other.
The second match-up is between the sixth place women’s squad and the eighth place Clansmen. So far this season the St. Albert team has won three of their five games while the Clan have won two of six. The game starts at 2 p.m. at the St. Albert Rugby Football Club.
The third match of the day kicks off at 4 p.m. between the men’s premier squad and the Clan. The men’s team is sitting in fourth place in the standings with three wins and one loss for the season. The Clansmen RFC squad is sitting in seventh place with two wins and three losses since the season began on June 23.
Miners final match
The St. Albert Miners are playing their last lacrosse game of the season this Friday night against the Edmonton Sr. Warriors. The St. Albert squad has won all 12 of their games so far this season and sit at 24 points in the league. They have scored 163 goals during the season and only have allowed 65 goals against. They have the fewest penalty minutes in the league with only 88.The Warriors have won eight of their 13 games during the season with another four losses and one tie game. The visiting squad sits with 17 points in the league and have scored 114 goals during the season and allowed 88 goals against. They have racked up 197 penalty minuets during the year.
The two teams have met two times before this year with the Miners winning both matches with final scores of 13-6 and 12-9.
The Miners kick off their final game of the season at 8 p.m. on Friday night at the Servus Go Auto Arena.
