For the first time in 11 years, the St. Albert Cardinals have made the North Central Alberta Baseball League Championships.

On Aug. 25 the Cardinals will face off against the Westlock Red Lions in the first of potentially three games that will be played over the weekend.

The St. Albert squad came out swinging this season and made their way to the top of the standings, earning the title of the 2023 Pennant Champions.

Four of the Cardinals players have landed in the ranks of the top ten hitters for the season across the league

Zach Pollard has a league-leading .491 average and is supported by outfielders Robert Sullivan (.419 average) and Luc Riopel (.368 average) and shortstop Ryan Lehman (.353 average).

The game starts at 7 p.m. at the Legion Field in St. Albert.

Before the first pitch is thrown the Ken Schultz Memorial Award will be handed out and it is considered the highest and most prestigious award in the NCABL. The award has been handed out since 1993 and candidates must have contributed significantly to the game of baseball in a franchised area within the NCABL's geographic region over an extended period of time.
