The International Bowl kicks off today between the first provincial U16 team in Football Alberta history and USA Football at the home of the Dallas Cowboys.
Offensive lineman Anthony Swecera and running back Keaton Zaychkowsky of the Paul Kane Blues and Sam Cuciz, quarterback of the St. Albert High Skyhawks, will huddle up for Team Alberta at AT & T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
The game will be played under American rules and is one of four games between age-group teams from Canada and the United States sanctioned by the International Federation of American Football.
The 42-man provincial roster consists of players from the Alberta Summer Games’ football competition last year in Airdrie.
The jamboree portion of the International Bowl saw Team Alberta defeat the USA 28-17.
The last tournament for St. Albert Crush wrestlers before the Provincial Junior Olympics is the Paperweight Invitational today at the Butterdome.
Last weekend at the Dan Knott School tournament in Edmonton the following Crushers achieved podium results in their respective weight classes.
Bryana Perlette finished first and Hope Budskin, Kyla Dorn, Teagan Duperron, Pasha Perlette and Parker Seymour were runners up in the girls division and Dylan Anderson placed first, Chris Manchester was second and Kyle Lawrence finished third in the boys division.
Provincials are Feb. 21 at Calgary. Last year the Crushers were awarded 23 individual medals at provincials in St. Albert.
