The St. Albert Crude lacrosse team will be starting playoffs after a successful regular season.

The Crude finished fourth out of six teams in the league with 13 points. They came out of the season with six wins, 13 losses and one tie out of their 20 games.

This season The Crude racked up 167 goals for with 200 goals against and only 432 penalty minutes.

The team won their last game of the season against the fifth place Saskatchewan Swat with a final score of 10-9. Ben Holoway and Carter McCorriston led the team in points through the match. Holoway earned three goals and two assists while McCorriston scored two goals and three assists.

The Crude start playoffs this week with their first series against the Sherwood Park Titans. The first game will be at the Strathcona Olympiette Centre on Thursday, July 20 at 8 p.m. The second game will come back to St. Albert and will be held at the Akinsdale Arena on Saturday, July 22 at 7 p.m. The third game will be played, if necessary, at the Strathcona Olympiette Centre on Sunday, July 23 at 5 p.m.

The series is a best of three.

The St. Albert women's premier soccer teams were all in action last week.

The third place Impact Premier won their match with a final score of 3-1 against the sixth place Victoria 2 squad. Kennedy Gray, Tanya Boychuk, and Janai Martens all scored for the home team. This was the second matchup of the two teams this season with the Impact coming out on top both times. They first met in June with a final score of 4-1.

The fifth place Impact/Inter SC won their game against the 10th place Dreadnoughts with a final score of 5-0. Louise Logan, Jenaya Brown, Kya Soper, Freya Feely, and Isabelle Dobbin all scored for the St. Albert Squad. The two teams opened the season against each other with the Impact coming out on top with a final score of 6-2.

The next game will see the two home squads face off against each other on Thursday night at Riel Park at 6:30 p.m.

The ninth place Impact 1 was also in action last week and lost in a blowout to the first place North West United. The Impact 1 play their next game on Thursday night against the second place Green and Gold Women at 8:15 at Riel Park.
