The metro Edmonton division two junior women’s volleyball final between the Bellerose Bulldogs and Archbishop MacDonald Marauders was decided in the fifth set Saturday at Strathcona High School.

The 15-12 clincher completed the MacDonald’s comeback after the Bulldogs won two hard-fought sets to start the best-of-five match.

In pool B the first-place Bulldogs beat fourth-place MacDonald 3-2 Oct.1.

The Bulldogs finished 8-2 (27 GW/12 GL) and MacDonald’s 8-3 (30 GW/14 GL) record included a semifinal victory over the defending champion St. Albert Skyhawks (8-2, 28 GW/11 GL) in five sets at the SkyDome.

The Bulldogs were gunning for their second junior women’s volleyball banner in school history since winning the 2010 city conference final.

Savannah Sillers, Sabrina DeCarolis and Victoria Warner were returning Bulldogs from last year’s 7-4 team that was eliminated in the division two quarter-finals.
