Janna Slevinsky of St. Albert was named to the CIS All-Canadian women’s rugby team for the second year in a row.
The high school rugby product of the Bellerose Bulldogs and St. Albert Rugby Football Club member plays back row for the Acadia Axewomen.
The fourth year kinesiology student was the 2009 recipient of the Shelaine Kozakovich Cup as the Edmonton Rugby Union junior women’s player of the year.
The quarter-final pairings are set for St. Albert’s senior male and female volleyball teams in the metro Edmonton high school league.
Monday at 4:45 p.m. in division one the St. Albert Skyhawks (7-4) visit the Harry Ainlay Titans (8-3) in the women’s bracket and the Paul Kane Blues (2-7) are in tough against the host Strathcona Lords (9-0) in the men’s round.
The semifinals are Wednesday and the finals are Saturday at 5 p.m. for the women and 7 p.m. for the men at Strathcona High School.
In the division two junior women’s quarter-finals Monday at 4:45 p.m. the Skyhawks (7-1), the defending champions, host the Archbishop Jordan Scots (6-1) and the Bellerose Bulldogs (6-1) entertain the Beaumont Bandits (3-4).
The semifinals are Wednesday and the final is Saturday at 11 a.m. at Strathcona.
The division two senior men’s and women’s quarter-final matches were unavailable at press time.

The St. Albert High Skyhawks huddle up in the Tier III north semifinals next Saturday against the Whitecourt Cats of the Mighty Peace league.
It’s a noon kick off at Clarke Park and admission is $5.
The winner will host the Nov. 15 north final against the playoff winner of the Wheatland/Fort McMurray versus Central regional match-up.
The Alberta Bowl championship is Nov. 21 in Lethbridge.
In the Tier III (450 to 749 students) Football Alberta rankings Whitecourt (6-2) is No. 2 and the Skyhawks (3-4) are No. 8.
The Skyhawks are representing the metro Edmonton league in the provincial playdowns because they were the only Tier III team competing in Miles division two this season.
The Skyhawks finished fourth out of seven teams and in the opening playoff round lost 28-10 to the Ardrossan Bisons (3-5), a Tier IV (449 or fewer students) team that reached the Tier III Alberta Bowl last year.
