A St. Albert ringette player has been awarded a $500 scholarship from In-Dey-Go Fundraising.
Tianna Miller, a netminder for the U19 belle B St. Albert Rage, was acknowledged for her skill and commitment in the sport.
“I’m thrilled,” she said. “Thank you In-Dey-Go for this scholarship.”
Miller, 16, started playing ringette in St. Albert at age eight as a defenceman for the novice Wolfpack. After three seasons she switched to net full time.
Miller spent last season with the U16 junior A Stride.
Monday at the Turkey Ring tournament, the Grade 11 St. Albert Catholic High School student stopped 35 shots in shutting out the St. Albert Surge in the gold-medal game.
The scholarship was offered in the wake of the 2014 Alberta Winter Games in Banff and Canmore. In-Dey-Go Fundraising is based in Canmore and has been in business for 18 years assisting teams across Canada achieve financial success.
The owner is Lisa Downing, a former Canadian Freestyle Ski Team member.

Students from St. Albert and Namao qualified for the Alberta Schools’ Athletic Association cross-country championships with fast times at last week’s Edmonton zone meet at Goldbar Park.
The top 18 runners in their respective age divisions are representing their high schools today at provincials, hosted by Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School.
The provincial competitors are as follows.
Junior U16 female 3,000 metres: Kyra Robinson, St. Albert Skyhawks – 16th, 13.32 minutes.
Intermediate U17 female 4,000m: Kyla Dane, Paul Kane Blues – ninth, 20.09; Colleen Moore, Paul Kane – 11th, 20.15.
Senior U19 female 4,000m: Lindsay Riege, Paul Kane – fifth, 19.23.
Junior U16 male 4,000m: Luke Hanson, Paul Kane – fourth, 15.39; Shae Kelly, Paul Kane – fifth, 15.49; Riley Stuermer, Skyhawks – 14th, 16.21.
Intermediate U17 male 5,000m: Josh Heinrichs, Paul Kane – third, 19.20.
Senior U19 male 6,000m: Zane MacDonald, Sturgeon Spirits – fourth, 23.17.
