St. Albert Impact product Noah Cunningham is one of three FC Edmonton Academy players invited to the Canadian Soccer Association’s U18 camp in France.
Cunningham, a defender, joins midfielder Shamit Shome and goalkeeper Christian Kaiswatum on the 20-man roster.
The Canadian delegation arrived in Paris on Thursday and after three days of training heads to Limoges on Monday for more workouts before playing the host French at Beaublanc Stadium.
Matches are also scheduled against the Ukraine on Friday and Uruguay on Sunday.
The U18 players are eligible for the 2015 CONCACAF U20 championships.
Cunningham, a Grade 11 Bellerose Composite High School student, Shome and Kaiswatum, who were part of the U17 program last year, joined the FC Edmonton Academy in 2013 and are still with the junior Eddies. The trio contributed to the junior Eddies finishing first in the Edmonton District Soccer Association’s premier division and the Alberta Soccer Association premier championship victory as the team competed under the Impact label.
The St. Albert Skyhawks carded a fourth-place score in the 3A/4A male team event at the Alberta Schools’ Athletic Association golf championships.
Noah Lubberding, Nick Cuciz, Logan McKay and Stephen Cretain combined for a two-day total of 471 at the River Spirit links in Calgary and Redwood Meadows.
Red Deer’s Hunting Hills finished first out of 10 teams at 452. Strathcona placed second at 458 and Cochrane, the host high school for provincials, was third at 459.
Monday at Redwood Meadows the Skyhawks placed second at 224, one shot back of Hunting Hills.
Lubberding finished in a three-way tie for top spot with an 18-hole score of 72 and Cuciz shot a 79.
Tuesday at River Spirit, the Skyhawks ended up seventh at 247. Cuciz shot a 79 and Lubberding turned in an 84.
Lubberding ranked 11th overall in individual results at 156 and Cuciz tied for 13th at 158.
Scores for McKay and Cretain were not listed on the provincial host’s website.
The Skyhawks qualified for provincials with a second-place showing at the Edmonton championships at the Links in Spruce Grove. The team’s 236 score was three shots back of first-place Strathcona and Lubberding’s 76 was one shot off the lead.
The three lowest scores per team determined the final total in the team standings.
