Golfers representing the Bellerose Bulldogs and the St. Albert Skyhawks qualified for provincials after carding low scores at the Edmonton high school zone championships Tuesday.

Alicia Easthope of the Bulldogs and the Skyhawks’ foursome of Noah Lubberding, Nick Cuciz, Logan McKay and Stephen Cretain will tee up the ball Monday and Tuesday at the River Spirit links in Calgary and Redwood Meadows. Cochrane High School is hosting provincials.

Easthope, competing at her home course at the Sandpiper Golf & Country Club, shot an 18-hole score of 84 to finish as the second low gross out of 42 female golfers from 16 schools. Emily Creaser of the Harry Ainlay Titans was the top female at 74.

In the boys’ 3A/4A tournament the Skyhawks finished second overall at 236, three shots behind the first-place Strathcona Lords at the Links in Spruce Grove.

The three lowest scores per team determine the final total in the team standings.

Lubberding shot a 76, one behind Eric Sheard and Cole Robertson of Strathcona and Justin Berget of St. Peter The Apostle Spartans, the third place team at 247.

Cuciz finished with a 79, followed by McKay at 81 and Cretain at 89.

The competition featured 94 males on 27 teams.

St. Albert Impact player David Doe is the newest member of the FC Edmonton Academy soccer development program.

Doe is among 20 players selected for the inaugural FCE U16 team. The players will be allowed to train with their club team during the season and the academy sessions will provide additional soccer support.

The FCE U18 team, featuring Impact products Noah Cunningham and Zach Rochat, will train solely with the academy for professional level development. The U18 side recently won the Alberta Soccer Association premier championship after placing first overall in the Edmonton District Soccer Association premier table playing under the Impact label.

Cody McChesney's interception paved the way for Jamison Enger to hook up with Matt Schaaf for a 31-yard TD pass at the 1:22 mark of the opening quarter.

Enger also hit Shonnen Pomerleau-Piquette for a 19-yard TD strike at 9:24 of the second quarter.
