The first loss for the St. Albert women’s rugby team after four wins to start the season was 29-12 in Wednesday’s torrential downpour at the Pirates Rugby Club.

Despite the less than ideal weather conditions St. Albert shut the Pirates (2-2) down in the second half.

The loss dropped St. Albert into third place behind the Lep/Tigers (4-1) and Clanswomen (4-0) in the ERU spring league seeding round. Both teams have one more bonus point than St. Albert in the nine-team table.

The top finishers move up into the Alberta first division in July for a home and away series with two Calgary teams.
