The St. Albert Stars football club pulled off their fourth win of the season against the last place Calgary Wolfpack. The Stars, who are tied for third place, annihilated the competition with a final score of 87-0. This was the Wolfpack’s seventh loss of the season. The Stars are tied for third place with Edmonton Raiders and the Calgary Gators and with only two games left in the season they are running out of time to pull ahead. Their next game is on Saturday at 4 p.m. against the sixth place Lloydminster Vandals at Lloydminster Comprehensive High School.
The St. Albert Senior Miners Lacrosse team has finished their regular season with a winning record. The team won 16 of their 17 games during the season and had just one tie game. The final game of the season was played against the fifth place Beaumont Outlaws and the home team stole their last win with a tally of 12-4. The Miners will begin their playoff run on Wednesday night against the fourth place Edmonton Senior Warriors. The series will be a best of five game series beginning Wednesday, July 20 at 8 p.m. and the second game will follow on Friday at 8 p.m., both at the Leduc Recreation Centre.
