The St. Albert Mission teams returned home with mixed results from the Ringette Alberta AA provincials last weekend in Lacombe and Red Deer.

The U19AA belles placed sixth out of six teams but every team qualified for the Tim Hortons Canadian Ringette Championships, April 3 to 9 in London, Ont.

The provincial champion Central Alberta Sting, Calgary Blue, Edmonton Elite, Calgary Red and Zone 5 Grit finished ahead of the Mission belles.

The U16AA juniors were fourth out of six teams after losing the bronze-medal game 6-5 to Zone 5 Pack to finish 2-4 overall. One of the Mission losses was 5-4 to Calgary Apex, the eventual provincial champions.

Calgary Blue was second, Central Alberta fifth, Edmonton sixth and Zone 2 Inception seventh. All seven teams go to nationals.

An overtime loss in the quarter-finals prevented the U14AA tweens from going to westerns. The top four finishers in the eight-team draw qualified and the Mission tweens ended up fifth after the 3-2 setback to Edmonton. It was the second OT loss in the tournament, as the tweens dropped a 6-5 decision in extra time to Calgary Red in pool play while going 1-3 overall.

Calgary White, Calgary Red, Calgary Blue and Edmonton advance to westerns.

Meanwhile, the St. Albert Ringette Association is hosting the U12A provincials next weekend.
