Two-time Olympic gold medallist Meaghan Mikkelson is the guest speaker at the Jan. 26 meeting of the Alberta chapter of the Canadian Sport Massage Therapists Association.
The advocate of sport massage will appear at North Pointe Community Church at 14025-167 Ave. in Edmonton.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and Mikkelson’s presentation goes from 7 to 8:15 p.m.

Mikkelson will share a variety of her experiences at the Olympics with the Canadian women’s hockey team and as an Amazing Race Canada competitor. Mikkelson and teammate Natalie Spooner finished second on season two of Amazing Race Canada after winning seven stages. They were voted Canada’s favourite team by fans of the show.
The St. Albert minor hockey product will also discuss the positive impact of her support network, including the benefits that sport massage has provided throughout her athletic career.
St. Albert’s three Mission AA ringette teams grace the ice after the Christmas break.
This weekend the Mission U14 tweens have three games on tap. Friday they host the Edmonton Elite AA tweens at 6:30 p.m. at Go Auto Arena. Saturday’s contest against the Central Alberta Sting AA tweens starts at 5:45 p.m. at Riviere Qui Barre. Sunday the Mission plays the Zone 5 AA tweens at 3:30 p.m. at River Cree Twin Rinks.
The tweens’ overall record was 13-9-1 before Monday’s match against the St. Albert U16 A1 team. The score was unavailable at press time.
Saturday the Mission U16 juniors play the Edmonton Elite AA juniors at 7:30 p.m. at Terwillegar Community Recreation Centre
The juniors are 16-5-2 overall after Friday’s 6-6 draw against Sherwood Park U19 A1 belles at Mark Messier Arena.
The Mission U19 belles also skate Saturday in exhibition action against the Canadian national university champion Alberta Pandas at 6 p.m. at Alexandra Arena in Leduc.
The belles were 18-11-3 overall before Monday’s game against the Elite U19 belles. The score was unavailable at press time.
All three Mission teams are gearing up for the provincial AA championships, Feb. 27 to March 1 at the Go Auto, Troy Murray, Mark Messier and Kinex arenas.
Provincials consist of six tween, six junior and five belle teams.
The junior and belle AA nationals are March 25 to April 4 in Fort McMurray and the tween AA westerns are March 25 to 28 in Calgary.
This is the second season for the U16 AA and U19 AA teams and third season for the U14 AA team in the St. Albert Ringette Association.
