King, a Grade 12 student, set a new standard in the senior boys’ 100-metre hurdles with a winning time of 13.89 seconds. The old mark of 14.14 was set by Matthew Cordoz of the Harry Ainlay Titans in 2007.

The provincial record is 13.59 by Evan Clark of Henry Wise Wood of Calgary.

King was also the fastest runner in the 400m at 50.71.

Oudenaarden, a Grade 11 student, shattered the intermediate girls’ long jump record with a mighty leap of 5.54m. The previous best was 5.29m by Joanne Otto of Strathcona in 1983. The provincial record is 5.60m by Jill MacEachen of George McDougall of Airdrie.

Oudenaarden also placed first in the 200m (25.38), high jump (1.60m) and javelin (39.15m).

Also recording top three placings at zones were the following Paul Kane athletes:

Hayley Francois, junior girls: first in the 800m (2:30.18) and 1,500m (5:30.25).

Whitney Follette, senior girls: first in high jump (1.45m).

Rachel Francois, senior girls: first in the 800m (2:24.79).

Kelly Fagan, senior girls: third in high jump (1.40m).

Ben Sperling, junior boys: third in the 3,000m (10:21.76).

Jon Chalaturnyk, junior boys: third in high jump (1.75m).

Koltin Glimm, junior boys: second in discus (28.67m).

Podium finishers at zones included the following St. Albert Skyhawks:

Paige Knull, junior girls: first in shot put (9.75m) and second in discus (24.33m).

Taryn Wolosyn, junior girls: third in discus (22.45m).

Jack Zubick, junior boys: second in the 100m (11.61) and third in the 200m (23.61).

Brendan Thera-Plamondon, junior boys: second in triple jump (12.15m) and third in long jump (5.97m).

Mitch McNamara, intermediate boys: second in 200m (22.84)

Liam McNamara, intermediate boys: third in discus (31.05m)

Also making the podium were the following Sturgeon Spirits:

Michelle Heyden, senior girls: second in discus (22.07m).

Kyle Speer, junior boys: first in discus (30.99m) and second in shot put (11.75m).

Connor Speer, senior boys: second in 1,500m (4:34.66).

The lone Bellerose Bulldog to finish top three was Madison Porisky with a first place showing in intermediate girls’ discus (24.77m).

The top zone finishers in each event qualified for provincials this weekend at Foote Field.

Monday’s second-half comeback extended the St. Albert Impact 2 team’s winning streak to four games in the Edmonton District Soccer Association.

Down by two goals at halftime against Victoria Res/DFCA, the Impact stormed back with six consecutive markers to win 6-2 at Riel Park.

Mark McQuaid scored three header goals from crosses by Cohen Cassidy. He leads the team in goals with five.

Chris Onderwater also banged in a header and Nick Karakochuk added two goals as the Impact improved to 4-1 in the division 1A standings.

On Sunday, Karakochuk tallied the game winner in the 75th minute after McQuaid and Cassidy hit several posts, as the Impact edged Southwest United 2-1 at Confederation Park.

In the 30th minute Scott DeJong put a free kick into the top corner from about 25 yards out.

The next match for the Impact is Monday against Punjab United. They are led by former St. Albert Impact Rangers’ striker Emmett Keenan with three goals. Kickoff is 8:45 p.m. at the Riel Park turf field.

Meanwhile, the Rangers (2-2) hope to break out of a two-game scoreless streak Thursday when they host the Edmonton Warriors at 7 p.m. at Riel Park. The Rangers have given up eight goals in their last two losses.

And tonight at 6:30 p.m. the St. Albert Impact 1 team plays Chile at the Eco-Industrial Park. The Impact’s division 1B record is 3-0-2.
