Last week the Cardinals edged the Stony Plain Codgers 6-5 in St. Albert and blasted the Edmonton Blues 13-5 at Wally Footz Field.

The Cardinals and Blues square off again this Monday at 6:45 p.m. in St. Albert.
This year the Cardinals will play in the Canadian Oldtimers Baseball Championships in the 35-plus age division. The Aug. 2 to 5 competition will also feature 44-plus and 50-plus divisions. Games will be held in St. Albert, Spruce Grove, Telus Field and other Edmonton diamonds.
The St. Albert Cardinals swept the Fort McMurray Oil Giants in a three-game homestand last weekend to remain unbeaten in the bantam AAA provincial seeding round.
The Cardinals are 8-0 in the provincial qualifier, and 9-5 in league play, after posting wins of 7-0, 13-11 and 4-2 over the Oil Giants at Legion Memorial Park.
In the series opener Dylan Gates allowed one hit over five innings and struck-out 12 to record his third win of the season.
Nate Brisson was solid in relief while giving up one hit.
James Robillard banged out a single and triple and drove in two runs to raise his team-leading RBI total to 15.
In game two the Cardinals built up a 13-3 lead after six innings. However, the Oil Giants found their bats in the seventh. A single, double and two triples mixed in with a couple of Cardinals’ errors allowed the visitors to score eight runs before Cole Seitz put out the fire in relief by striking out the final batter to end the nail-bitter.
Jeremy Gamracy was solid in his first start of the season and fanned seven while allowing two earned runs over 5-1/3 innings.
Robillard, Gates and Ross Supruniuk had multiple-hit games. Tylor Jans batted in two runs and Gamracy helped his own cause with three RBIs.

Joseph Karall strung together three hits and drove in three runs and Colton Girard’s two hits included a solo home run.
The rematch ended with the A’s winning 5-4. With the score tied in the bottom of the seventh, after a one-out double and subsequent pass ball put the A’s catcher on third base, the Cardinals intentionally walked the next two hitters to set up a force play at the plate. Tonight at 7 p.m. the Cardinals host the Red Deer Braves.
Saturday’s doubleheader against SEEBA starts at 12 p.m. in St. Albert.
