A pair of Bellerose Bulldogs broke the Edmonton zone male shot put senior record last week at Foote Field.
Jakob Brinkhof was the winner at 12.87 metres and Spencer Unrau was the runner-up at 12.45m.
The previous mark of 12.03m was set last year by Alexander Szczotka of the J.H. Picard Pumas.
Lanny Tron of the Sir Winston Churchill Bulldogs established the Alberta Schools Athletic Association record of 17.13m in 1978.
Brinkhof, a national age-group level thrower who trains with the St. Albert Mustangs Track Club, broke the zone record on the second of his six throws.
Unrau, an offensive lineman who has committed to the Acadia Axemen, eclipsed it on his third throw.
Brinkhof also placed second in senior javelin at 41.34m.
The top finishers at zones advance to the ASAA championships next weekend in Lethbridge.

Tyler Edworthy finished fourth overall in the purple belt ultra-heavyweight master division at the recent world professional jiu-jitsu championship in Abu Dhabi.
The six-foot and 225-pound Edworthy fell one win short of reaching the final and qualifying for the open division after compiling a 2-2 record against two Russians and competitors from the United Arab Emirates and Brazil.
At the 2015 United States national pro jiu-jitsu tournament in Santa Barbara, California, Edworthy won the open purple-belt division and an all-expense paid travel package and registration to worlds.
The operations and sports development co-ordinator for the Town of Morinville was 6-0 in the ultra heavyweight and open divisions combined without surrendering any points.
The Morinville Jets alumnus is also a jiu-jitsu instructor for youths at the Hayabusa Training Centre in St. Albert.
Serge Lajoie of St. Albert is in select company as the only college-level coach selected by Hockey Canada for the 2015 World U17 Hockey Challenge.
The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference men’s coach of the year in 2014 and 2015 guided the NAIT Ooks to a 26-5-1 record and their 15th ACAC championship title this past season.

Lajoie, a former defenceman with the St. Albert Saints, Alberta Golden Bears and EC Bad Nauheim in Germany, will join coach Kris Knoblauch (Erie Otters) and assistant Jamie Heward (Swift Current Broncos) on Team Red.
Last year, Lajoie was an assistant for Team White, the fifth-place finisher after losing to Sweden in the quarterfinals.

Youths between the ages of four and 19 can compete individually or as a team on a swim-bike-run course that varies in distance according to age group.
The distances for the junior elite (16 to 19) and U23 divisions are the 750-metre swim, 18.4-kilometre bike (draft legal) and five-km run.
Last year, 315 triathletes (154 females and 161 males) and five teams completed the Kids of Steel.
Two years ago, 263 triathletes (138 females and 125 males) and nine teams finished their races.
A valid 2015 Alberta Triathlon membership is mandatory for all participants.

The St. Albert Miners travel to Calgary this weekend for two senior B games in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League.
The Miners (4-1) run the floor against the Calgary Mountaineers (5-1) Saturday at 9 p.m. and Calgary Raiders (0-5) Sunday at 4 p.m. at Stu Peppard Arena.
Last weekend, the Miners hung on to beat the Raiders 8-7 at Go Auto Arena.
The Raiders outscored the Miners 4-1 in the second period to lead 5-4. The home team replied with four unanswered goals in the third before the Raiders potted a pair to trail by one with under three minutes to play.
Captain Jordan Cornfield tallied twice and Nick Petz added one goal and three assists. Owen Williams, Darren Kinnear, Brett Reynar, Matt Andruchow and Derek Burak also scored.
Earlier in the week, the 2014 Presidents’ Cup national bronze medallists and provincial champions defeated the South Edmonton Warriors 13-8 at Bill Hunter Arena. Six unanswered goals at even strength in the third turned the tide against the Warriors (0-6).
Graedon Cornfield led all scorers with four goals and six points. Kinnear posted three goals and one assist and Matt Hamson had four helpers.
The next home game for the St. Albert Crude in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League is Saturday against the Red Deer Rampage.
Ball drop is 3:30 p.m. at Akinsdale Arena.
The Crude are 3-6 and Red Deer, last year’s provincial champion, is 5-0-1 in the junior B Tier I north division.
Previous games between the two teams ended with wins of 7-5 and 6-4 for Red Deer.
Last weekend, the Crude beat the host Sherwood Park Titans 10-6 and lost 9-5 to the Calgary Chill.
Simon Hansen posted hat-tricks in both games for eight points overall as the Miners’ top scorer.
Ben Holowaty chipped in with one goal and three assists against the Titans (1-5) in Sherwood Park. Holowaty and Maurice Kelly also picked up two assists apiece against the Chill (5-3-1) in Calgary.
