The St. Albert LeGit ringette team didn’t lose a game en route to winning the U12 A championship at the Esso Golden Ring Tournament last weekend in Calgary.

The LeGit’s 5-0 record included a come-from-behind 4-3 victory against Calgary Edge in the round robin. LeGit scored the tying goal with 30 seconds left to play and the game winner with three ticks on the clock.

The LeGit dedicated the Golden Ring title to their teammate, Karlee McDonald, who broke her ankle before the tournament and is out for the season.

The LeGit’s overall record is 26-3-2 after their third tournament triumph. The top petite team in the Black Gold League also went undefeated at tournaments in Standard and Beaumont.

The St. Albert Shock ringette team was crowned tournament champions at the recent West Coast Classic in Richmond, B.C.

In the final the U12 A petites beat Kelowna 7-1 to finish the tournament 4-0.

Last month the Shock won the Lacombe Ice Breaker Tournament.

In the Black Gold League standings the Shock are fourth at 3-1 and are three points out of first place. They also handed Sherwood Park its first loss in league play by a score of 4-3.

The Shock are currently preparing for their toughest part of the schedule with games against the St. Albert LeGit and Sherwood Park leading up to the Zone 5 provincial playoffs in February.

The last tournament for the Shock is the Feb. 3 to 5 Edmonton Silver Ring.
