The Lords (2-0) won 26-24. The Bulldogs (0-2) are back on the pitch Tuesday against the Ross Sheppard Thunderbirds (0-2) at 6:15 p.m. in St. Albert.

Friday’s schedule included board-breaking demonstrations and a black-belt tournament.

The Desa School of Karate, located at Rowland Crescent in St. Albert, provides instruction in traditional Okinawan karate under the direction of Sensei Manual deSa, a seventh-degree black belt.

The season-opening homestand for the junior A St. Albert Miners in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League starts today against the provincial champion Calgary Mountaineers.

Ball drop is 5:30 p.m. at Akinsdale Arena.

The Miners host the Calgary Raiders at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday at Go Auto Arena.

The St. Albert Crude visit the Edmonton Warriors at Bill Hunter Arena today at 4:30 p.m.

The Crude are 1-1 and the Warriors are 1-0 in the junior B Tier I division in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League.

The Crude and Warriors cross paths next Saturday at 8 p.m. at Akinsdale Arena. The pre-game ceremonies will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Crude program.

The St. Albert Miners travel to Sherwood Park to play the Outlaws in senior B lid-lifter in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League Sunday.

Game time is 4 p.m.

The home opener for the Presidents’ Cup national bronze medallists and provincial champions is Friday against the South Edmonton Warriors at 8 p.m. at Go Auto Arena.

The St. Albert Men’s Soccer League kicks off its season fixtures Sunday with a tripleheader at Riel Recreation Park.

SA City and Magnitude FC play at 11 a.m., followed by Chester City against SA United at 1 p.m. and GSE (Green Street Elite) versus Spurs FC at 3 p.m.

Prestige Worldwide, a new team comprised of former Blues FC players, has the bye.

GSE is the three-time defending playoff cup champions. Last year, GSE crushed Chester City 7-2 in the final to finish 15-1-1 overall after capturing its first regular-season pennant in the team’s four-year history.

SA United edged the Spurs 3-2 in last year’s third-place playoff match.

The Spurs also won bronze at the Alberta Soccer Association Tier 3 provincials.

Sydney De La Mare pounded the pitch for three tries as the Paul Kane Blues beat the Jasper Place Rebels 31-10 in metro Edmonton division two women’s rugby Tuesday in St. Albert.

The Grade 11 co-captain is the team leader in tries with eight for the defending champions.

De La Mare opened the scoring with a long run off an eight-man pick and Annie Boyd’s try under the posts was converted by co-captain Emily DeWitt to make it 12-0.

The Rebels (1-1) replied with a pair of tries before halftime to trail by two.

The Blues stormed back in the third quarter with two tries by De La Mare and Dewitt converted one of the scores.

Katryne Pharis’s insurance try and DeWitt’s conversion in the fourth quarter closed out the scoring.

The next pool A match for the Blues (2-0) is Tuesday against the M.E. Lazerte Voyageurs (0-1) at 4:45 p.m. at the St. Albert Rugby Football Club.

A St. Albert men’s slowpitch team is looking for players 60 years or older to play recreational ball this season.

Games are Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5 p.m. at Meadowview Diamonds.

League play in the St. Albert Men’s Slowpitch Association starts next week and wraps up in early September.
